The AFRIMAC 2 Initiative (for business, technological, entrepreneurial and innovative exchange in matters of high economic impact between the Canary Islands and West Africa) has ended its actions on December 31, 2023 based on its programming.

I MEETING OF BUSINESS WOMEN ASSOCIATIONS OF THE ECOWAS


On 3 and 4 December 2018, Casa África organised the First Meeting of Business Women Associations of the ECOWAS, with the collaboration of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International) and the sponsorship of the General Directorate for Economic Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Fuerteventura Island Council.

The main objectives proposed in this first meeting can be summarized in the following points:

  • To promote the transfer of knowledge between women entrepreneurs in the Canary Islands and West Africa, specifically the countries belonging to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
  • To establish professional networks among the participants with the main objective of increasing commercial relations.
  • To promote business links and commercial opportunities between women entrepreneurs from the Canary Islands and West Africa.
  • Establish a roadmap for cooperation among women entrepreneurs and have information on the development agenda of the African Union 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Establish a training programme for women entrepreneurs attending the forum to present their projects and business opportunities.

This meeting was attended by representatives of business associations from Africa and Spain, as well as international organizations with expertise in women's empowerment and development, especially in the field of business. 

 The program of the meeting was developed around round tables, workshops and networking sessions. 

Summary:

The event was organized within the framework of the CONFIAFRICA project, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the INTERREG MAC cooperation programme (Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands) and AFRIMAC.
